Operosa was founded in 2006 by the opera singer Katherine Haataja
with the purpose of promoting the art of opera to a demanding
Bulgarian and international audience. Opera productions and music
recordings of the highest standard serve as a platform for
young international singers and artists.

The Operosa Evksinograd open air Opera Festival is a prestigious
opera event first of its kind in Bulgaria and on the Balkans.
The event aims to become an annual highlight of the cultural
summer life in Bulgaria attracting an ever growing Bulgarian
and international audience and media.

The Festival was launched with great success in June 2007 with
“Don Giovanni” by W.A. Mozart in the beautiful gardens of
Chateau Evksinograd near Varna overlooking the Black Sea.

The production boasted an exciting cast collaborating with
an international team of conductor, stage director, designers, the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra and singers selected through extensive auditions.

With special technical assistance and co-operation from International
Opera Festivals and the vastly experienced Bulgarian film industry
company CINEMAQ a production team was assembled to build
the frame upon which the staging of the opera relied.
