Young@Opera

Young@Opera was a Balkan cooperation project created by Operosa and co-funded by Creative Europe.

Young@Opera was a cooperation project created and led by Operosa and produced with partners Municipality of Herceg Novi and Kolarac Endowment with the support of the Creative Europe Programme of the European Commission.

It was initiated in 2017 based on two consecutive cycles that engaged young artists from the Balkans in traditional and contemporary opera productions and it was successfully concluded in 2022. The project aimed to educate and promote the development of regional and local opera opportunities by decentralizing opera and making it attractive for young audiences in the region.

The project was divided into two parts:

The opera “La Serva Padrona” by G. Paisiello, and the creation of a new commissioned opera “Djumbus” (“The Mess”) composed by Milica Ilić to the libretto of Jovan Stamatović – Karić; the old opera serving as the source, connection and inspiration for the new opera. The project successfully completed a total of 6 tours of opera performances across 4 countries visiting 30 towns in 4 years.
